SACCO Assurance
This is a proposed insurance portal for SACCOs /VSLAs/MFIs, Investment Clubs and groups that will wish to generate revenue from insurance sales through either the Affiliate(referral) model or using an appointed certified (licensed) SACCOs staff that will ensure that SACCOs members enroll and benefit from UAP OLD MUTUAL products and services .
Insurance penetration is still low, and it requires players to be innovative to encourage uptake. In our attempt to reach out to SACCOs (SMEs), we identified an opportunity that can be exploited subject to demonstrating value to the SACCOs.
SACCO Business
A SACCO is a type of cooperative whose objective is to pool savings for the members in turn provide them with credit facilities at an affordable rate . Other objectives are to encourage them on the proper management of money and proper investments practices. We should note that:-.
- SACCOs are legal bodies registered under the cooperatives Statute of 1991.
- SACCOs are owned by their members through paid up share capital, entrance fees and opening of a savings account.
- Basically, they are economic institutions and must succeed in doing business in order to grow, survive and become sustainable.
